Our Commitment to You
You may be hearing a lot in the news about increasing regulations for financial advisors that could potentially change the way advisors handle retirement accounts. For some practices, this could become a sore subject and may be a significant change to the way they do business. For Collins Investment Group, we do not believe any new regulations will change the way we work for our clients, as we have always held ourselves to a higher standard than to do just enough to get by. Putting our client’s first is a principle that we have always lived by and we actually think, “why just retirement accounts?”
As a client of Collins Investment Group, your interests have always been placed first regardless of the type of account you have. No matter the regulatory changes, you will still continue to experience the high level of service and personalized relationships that you’ve come to expect from our team.
Along with our commitment to maintaining a high level of service and personalization, we are also committed to improving your experience with Collins Investment Group through the professional development of our team.
So far this year we have seen a few things change at Collins Investment Group that we believe will complement our client services and reinforce the quality of our team.
Welcome to the Team!
We’ve added a new team member, Florence (Flo) Bird, Client Services Specialist. Before joining Collins Investment Group, Flo was with Folger Nolan Fleming Douglas, Inc. for seven years working with their Senior Financial Advisors. Flo has been in the financial industry for 31 years and has served in roles with PaineWebber Inc. in Silver Spring, Maryland and Johnston Lemon & Co. in Washington, D.C.
Flo is a Series 7 Registered associate and has spent much of her career working with large institutional and charitable organization’s accounts by processing their trades and overseeing their gifting accounts.
She has lived in Maryland her entire life and currently resides in Rockville with her husband, Bill and her two children. Away from the office, Flo enjoys kayaking, camping and spending time with her family. She and her husband are very involved with fundraising events for the American Legion Post 86 in Rockville and fostering animals in need of homes.
In her new role with Collins Investment Group, Flo will be overseeing all cash movement such as:
- ACH/Direct Deposit
- Journals/Internal Transfers
- IRA Contributions and IRA Distributions
Flo’s past work experience has made her transition to Collins Investment Group seamless, and her skill set and personality is a great fit for our team and our clients. If you haven’t had the pleasure to speak with or meet Flo yet, she would love to hear from you.
Congratulations Jordan VanOort
In more great news for Collins Investment Group, we are proud to announce that in the first quarter of 2017, Jordan VanOort, Vice President – Investments, CFP®, CFA®, CPWA® earned his Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) certification.
Earning the CPWA® certification means that Jordan has exhibited a thorough understanding and knowledge of the complexities that today’s high net worth clients are faced with. With his understanding of the potential issues faced by high net worth individuals or families, Jordan brings a unique and valuable insight to portfolio management and estate investment planning for our clients.
There is no doubt that Jordan’s CPWA® in combination with his CFA® and CFP®, will prove to be beneficial to our clients and to our team. Kudos Jordan!
Congratulations Stephen Clagett
Lastly, we’d like to congratulate Stephen Clagett on his recent achievements as well. In January, Stephen passed his Series 9/10 Registration (General Securities Sales Supervisor) exams. Passing the Series 9 and 10 demonstrates Stephen’s knowledge of securities industry rules and certain statutory provisions applicable to the supervision of sales activities within a branch office.
Upon passing his exams, Stephen also received a promotion from Portfolio Administrator to Assistant Vice President. Stephen started as an intern in 2008 while working toward his degree in economics at the University of Maryland College Park. After graduation in 2010, he joined the team full time. Kudos Stephen!
